THE RICKY-TICK ARTIST ROSTER EXPANDS

The latter half of 2008 will see new releases of Ricky-Tick greats such as The Five Corners Quintet and Jukka Eskola, in addition to the first Ricky-Tick compilation, plus titles from newcomers Auteur Jazz and the Olli Ojajärvi Trio.

Auteur Jazz

Led by producer-multi-instrumentalist Antti Hynninen, Auteur Jazz is a new cinematically-toned project gearing up for the release of their debut 12" single on Ricky-Tick Records this fall. If Roman Polaski would remake his films "Knife in the Water", or perhaps "Repulsion", this might be the new soundtrack.

Olli Ojajärvi Trio

Another new addition to the Ricky-Tick artist repertoire is the trio of Finnish tenor saxophonist and composer Olli Ojajärvi (born 1974). A scene mainstay in Finnish jazz for 10 years and counting, Ojajärvi showcases a distinctively dynamic and improvisational approach to his playing and composing. His trio features the unquestionable talent of Jan Simons (bass) and Markku Ounaskari (drums). Their album "Out of Mind" is scheduled for release in late 2008.

Ricky-Tick's own club night, Jazz Heat Bongo Beat, returns with style on Saturday July 26. We're glad to present a DJ set from Jazzman Gerald, the main man of the famed Jazzman Records.
